Event Details

For our first party of the new decade it's our honour to be hosting 'the genre-bending DJ dominating top tier dancefloors worldwide' (as hailed by Mixmag).

Josey Rebelle (Rinse FM, BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix)

Being shown the decks at 13 years old, this London born selector has progressed to playing House, Techno and Breakbeat around the world. Growing up around reggae and soul, Josey has a wide understanding of music which translates into her unique sets, and a huge range of records to pick from.

From her Plastic People residency in London to her regular appearances at fabriclondon (London), Berghain / Panorama Bar (Berlin) and De School (Amsterdam), Josey has made a name for herself as one of the best DJs in the underground music scene. Appearing on the first official Boiler Room broadcast in 2010 and gaining her Rinse FM residency in 2011, she has become a staple of UK and worldwide club and radio music, known for her raw underground energy. In recent years she has gained the attention and praise she deserves, receiving a number of outstanding accolades including 50 Most Exciting DJs in the World (Crack Magazine), Top 20 Breakthrough DJs of the Year (Mixmag), 10 Best Radio Shows in London (Time Out London) and Best Mixes of the Year (Pitchfork).

Josey has had a busy 2019, being nominated for DJ Mags Best of British - Best DJ award, and to top it off she has received the prestigious BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix of the Year award for her incredible mix which originally aired in February (joining previous winners such as Helena Hauff, HAAi, Caribou and Ben Klock). We are excited to see what follows on her path and are over the moon to have the opportunity to bring her to our second home, 24 Kitchen Street.

Lupini (Melodic Distraction, ATHE, Netil Radio)

Lupini aka Nina Franklin is at the heart of all things music in Liverpool; one of the driving forces behind Melodic Distraction Radio, shes an absolute treasure. Shes been making waves as one half of the forward-thinking promoters ATHE, who provide a platform for women, queer folk and POC to showcase their talent, making her the perfect match for our party.

Within the last year shes played alongside amazing artists such as Call Super, SPFDJ, Mama Snake and Anz just to name a few. With plenty more in the pipeline, be sure to check her out supporting Sherelle down at meraki on the 8th of February.

Hitting up the radio airwaves is a pretty big deal for Lupini too. Shes locked down her own shows on Melodic Distraction (Club Dread), Netil Radio (Kaleidosound) and has featured on NTS Radio with Tom Houghton from All Flight Records. Shes a huge part of what makes Melodic Distraction tick behind the scenes as well as performing, so be sure to listen in every third Thursday of the month 17:00 18:00.

Subcora (Melodic Distraction, Pachamama)

A music alchemist who is making her way through the journey of sound. Originating from Istanbul, she has been making a name for herself all around for years in various capacities as a singer, music writer and interview editor, all helping her to become a finalist for Pirate Studios Prodigy of 2019. With her deep, groovy, psychedelic house, shes the perfect fit for the night.

Shes a big part of the Melodic Distraction Radio community. Her show Archetype is incredible and has featured guest mix slots from the likes of Keith Marley, Ross Robertson and K-E in the past few months, as well as showcasing her own talent, making it an absolute delight to listen to. Easy on the ears and perfect for any vibe youre feeling, check it out every fourth Friday of the month, 19:00 - 21:00.

Shes part of two collectives; London based Pachamama and Istanbul based Soul Engineers, building up a catalogue of performances at some amazing festivals including Baltic Weekender, African Oye Festival Sefton Park and Smithdown Road Festival as well as being a main stay in the Summer Sessions segment created by Constellations. Supporting Romare down at 24 Kitchen Street last year was a major statement announcing her arrival and really making her mark on the Liverpool music scene.
