Following their highly praised Liverpool debut last October, Madrid's surf garage trio The Parrots return to Merseyside. Doubling up as an album launch night for their eagerly awaited debut LP Los Niños Sin Miedo (The Fearless Kids) the Madrid group recently inked a deal with legendary UK indie label Heavenly Recordings.
Building a profile with a series of attention grabbing singles and the sold-out six-track 10” EP Weed For The Parrots, issued through underground UK label Luv Luv Luv, the three piece have become a sizeable live draw through word of mouth buzz and laudatory reviews.
Label mates touring partners with Merseyside’s very own Hooton Tennis Club, The Parrots exit in similar gloriously ramshackle territory, drawing inspiration from 1960s psych (The Groupies 13th Floor Elevators), vintage rock n’ roll (Buddy Holly, Elvis) and glam (T-Rex).
The three also share kinship with fellow Madrid residents Hinds, whose acclaimed debut LP Leave Me Alone was produced by Parrots frontman Diego García.
An outstanding live act where stage invasions seemingly occur at every gig and at least one band member heads out into the audience, the band’s upcoming fixture at The Magnet is the perfect opportunity to see the band’s raucous live show up close and personal.
